Smoking cessation is recommended to reduce the risk of AAA growth and rupture (Grade 1, Level A).
Statins may be considered to reduce the risk of AAA growth (Grade 2, Level C).
Doxycycline, roxithromycin, ACE inhibitors, and angiotensin receptor blockers are of uncertain benefit in reducing the risk of AAA expansion and rupture (Grade 2, Level C).
The use of beta blockers to reduce the risk of AAA expansion and rupture is not recommended (Grade 1, Level B).
Screening for AAA is recommended for first degree relatives of patients presenting with an AAA (Grade 1, Level A).
