Percutaneous mitral leaflet repair aims to reproduce surgical techniques of improving leaflet coaptation and reducing/eliminating mitral regurgitation. The tested edge-to-edge Alfieri surgical technique is mimicked by the percutaneous MitraClip™ system.

The MitraClip™ system is a polyester fabric-covered cobalt-chromium implant with two arms which can be opened and closed with a steerable guiding mechanism (Figure 29).
