TOE is better than non-gated CT for

Echo contrast with may be helpful to

  1. Clarify artefacts by intraluminal reverberations,
  2. Detect entry tears not identified without contrast by showing early arrival of contrast into the false lumen
    (see Supplementary Video material)
  3. Identify retrograde or antegrade flow in the false lumen
  4. Distinguish the true and false lumen in cases where systolic expansion of the true lumen is not clear cut.
