Les patients asymptomatiques à faible risque subissent jusqu'à 45 % d'examens de « dépistage » inutiles. Il faut procéder à des examens seulement en présence des constatations suivantes : diabète chez les patients de plus 40 ans; artériopathie oblitérante des membres inférieurs ou risque annuel de plus de 2 % d'événements liés à la coronaropathie.
