Most lipid lowering medications are well-tolerated Serum transaminases should be checked within first 3 months Creatinine kinase can be checked if myalgias develop Routine testing of ALT or CK is not required thereafter
Referral May be Warranted in the Following Cases
Unexplained atherosclerosis Severe dyslipidemias Genetic lipoprotein disorders Patients refractory to pharmacological treatment
