• Resting ventricular rate target for AF patients is set at ≤ 100 beats/min.
• Beta-blockers or rate-lowering calcium channel blockers (CCBs) can be used to achieve ventricular rate control.
• Beta-blockers should be avoided as initial antihypertensive therapy in patients > 60 years old as per the Canadian Hypertesion Education Program (CHEP).
